CRUX is a lightweight Linux distribution for the x86-64 architecture targeted at experienced Linux users. The primary focus of this distribution is keep it simple, which is reflected in a straightforward tar.gz-based package system, BSD-style initscripts, and a relatively small collection of trimmed packages. The secondary focus is utilization of new Linux features and recent tools and libraries. CRUX also has a ports system which makes it easy to install and upgrade applications.
Current release is 3.8.
News
2025-10-26: Infrastructural changes
Everybody, this news has been long overdue but let us finally address it ? there have been a lot of things going on on the infrastructural side before 3.8 came to light.
A brief overview of things addressed:
- redid the server on newer hardware (still hosted at Kalmar NDC, thanks Peter!)
- switched from our gitweb/flyspray combination to gitea
- updated our mailman2 instance to mailman3, as well as the Postorius and Hyperkitty frontends
- updated our mail server settings to work with SPF, DKIM and DMARC records
- implemented monitoring with Grafana to help administrating everything
