The Dogs
<$BlogRSDURL$>
Name: Mishka
Age: 10
Nickname: Big Stupid
Role in Family: Doorstop
The big dog, our handsome little man, Mishka has been with us almost as long as there's been an "us." Trusting, friendly, playful, (and as much of a wiseass as a dog is capable of being), Mishka epitomizes all that is good about dogs.
He's been with us from Normal, IL, to St. Louis and Jefferson City, MO, to Detroit, MI, and all the way down to Atlanta. We've been with him through a frightening bout of pancreatitis, and his presence has helped see us through the rough stretches of our life. Every day he's been a part of our lives has been a blessing, for which we are nothing but grateful. ¶ 10:19 AM
Name: Koshka
Age: 8 1/2
Nickname: Wolverine
Role in Family: Chief of Security
Our generally paranoid female, Koshka came to us out of guilt for constantly leaving Mishka alone. Mishka remains to this day the only thing that Koshka has ever instantly loved. Friendly and cuddly to those willing to take the time to get to know her, her eternal vigilance keeps us safe, although she'll probably never know how much more reassuring she is curled up between her people on the bed.
Despite her fierce exterior (she's the first to the door, barking for all she's worth when strangers approach), she's actually the most gentle of our dogs, and her patience with children is awe-inspiring. She acts like a princess, but that's only because she is. ¶ 10:15 AM
Name: Otchki
Age: 1 year
Nickname: Nugget
Role in Family: Pain in the Ass
After finally settling into a routine, where everyone understood each other, it became time to mess things up something fierce. Enter the Nugget, better known as Otchki. Otchki adores everyone and everything, but he mostly adores Koshka. She, in return, allows him to live, despite his status as the most annoying carbon-based life form ever created.
Otchki has a puppy's lack of a low gear. He loves every living thing he's ever met, instantly and without reservation. Still learning about the world, he destroys toys and clothes with equal abandon, and loves to bring junebugs into the house. He is, however, above all else, part of our family, and we love him.
