Call For Open Content

Call for Open Content: Share Your Ideas at the C++Online Conference!
Do you have a topic, idea, or discussion you’d love to share with the C++ community? The C++Online Conference 2026, happening March 11th to 13th, is inviting submissions for Open Content Sessions. Whether you're an expert, an enthusiast, or simply someone with a passion for C++, this is your chance to present your ideas to a global audience in an interactive and innovative virtual environment.
What Are Open Content Sessions?
Open Content Sessions are community-driven presentations or discussions that anyone can propose, even if you’re not registered for the main conference. These sessions:
- Appear in the official conference program.
- Can be 30, 60, or 90 minutes long.
- Are held in non-prime time slots, but can cover ANY TOPIC (subject to approval).
In addition this year we plan for any standard talk style open content sessions to take place in Zoom, where they can then be recorded for on-demand access by attendees at any point after the session has concluded. In addition, at both the discretion of the conference and the speaker, the recorded open content talks may be processed and released to the C++Online YouTube channel
What Can You Present?
The possibilities for Open Content are endless, and we encourage creativity! Your session could include:
- Lectures: Share your expertise on a technical topic.
- Demos or Workshops: Teach attendees something new.
- Panels: Host a discussion with multiple speakers.
- Meetups: Bring together attendees with shared interests.
- Birds of a Feather (BoF): Lead informal discussions or Special Interest Groups (SIGs).
In addition, open content can also be for interactive social events & games with previous examples including:
- Core C++ Meetup: Core C++ arranged one of their meetups to take place at C++Online. If you would like to try this out for your meetup, then we would be happy to have you!
- Online Tetris Tournament: Dutch C++ ran a competitive and fun tetris tournament to unwind after the first day of the conference.
- C++ Pub Quiz: CppIndia ran a lively and interactive pub quiz to start the final day of the event.
These are just some suggestions and we are happy to consider ANY format of session if you believe that it will work for an online only audience.
Please note are looking to schedule more interactive content this year, so applications for social events, quizzes, tournaments and other interactive forms of content will have a higher likelihood of success if there is a lot of interest.
How Do Open Content Sessions Work?
Talks/Lectures
Any talks/lectures will be presented in Zoom Webinar which for a simpler talk provides the best viewing experience for attendees.
Other Types Of Open Content
Any other sessions will be hosted in our Gather Town Virtual Venue, an engaging, interactive platform where attendees can explore, interact, and connect. You’ll present in a specially designed room, suited to your session type:
- Presentation Rooms for talks or workshops.
- Meeting Rooms for panels, meetups, or group discussions.
- Custom Rooms for other type of interactive activity including quizzes, tournaments and games which can be designed to fit the needs of the session.
Depending on your session, you can:
- Use spotlight tiles to stream your video, share your screen, and present slides or code.
- Facilitate Q&A with attendees using spotlight tiles for questions.
- Host interactive discussions, splitting attendees into small groups or keeping everyone together.
You’ll have flexibility to combine these formats, tailoring your session to your audience. In addition, the flexibility of Gather Town means that it can facilitate all manners of requirements. So if you do have an idea for a session that more unique or complex which requires it's own specific setup (such as a quiz, tournament, game etc), then we will be very happy to discuss your idea with you and work out how to make your idea a reality within the Gather Town venue.
