About
Daniel Glazman [aka glazou] created a problem (for me), starting by complaining about his inclusion in Nicolas Voisin Pile. The original post is here.
Glazman used a shutdown of his actualisation feed as a blackmail to be excluded from Nicola’s Pile. He succeeded for three reason :
- Nicolas don’t want to be unpopular and Glazman have a large audience
- without Glazman’s feed no data for the Pile
- I was to a trip in Greece, nice country but with a somehow deficient Internet availability ; difficult for a traveller to get a connexion
Now, these arguments are without substance for me. First of all I don’t really care about the opinion Glazman have about this subject or about me personally. Second, I don’t really need the feed to gather data. Third, if Glazman shutdown his feeds, once more, people could always use mine to know everything about Glazman-blogging.
Glazman protested, writing that the Pile was copying the whole content of the feed, which is incorrect (I hope it wasn’t an intentional lie, but people must have check that out by themselves, I had only ONE e-mail protest by a Glazman’s fan) ; a mere 255 characters where presented as a citation, with attribution. He also failed to read the about page of the Pile, thus using a completely inadequate path (a simple e-mail at the provided address would be much better) to discuss the matter.
Now, the question for me is: « what if I decide to talk to people about Glazman’s posts? ». I do have the right to do so.
To avoid discussions about « fair use » and « short citation », no citations at all, not even the title of the post ;-). Just the mention that Glazman posted a new piece, and some tags related with the content of the post. And of course a link to the post and to the post’s category. And some times my personal tags and comments 😉
Of course, if Glazman really want to avoid being referenced for his blogposts and know how to ask for it politely, then I’ll consider the matter seriously. And I know that he have my e-mail address, the very same one he provided to every spammer lurking around in his post. And I do have Glazman’s e-mail address [daniel@glazman.org], so I’ll be able to respond.
Now, this Pile isn’t about Glazman, is just another experiment about creating Piles from html sources, where actualisation feed arent’ available; another exemple [fr] is available here
Other « feeds » will be included as my scripts evolve.
