In addition to his role as an in-demand sideman, Clovis is also a band leader who released four albums on Sunnyside Record: “Nine Stories” – named one of DownBeat’s Best Albums of the Year – “Freedom Suite Ensuite” with Kenny Washington on drums – “Autoportrait,” a solo bass album awarded a 5 stars review in Jazz Magazine; and “The Contrapuntist”, which earned the CHOC prize from Classica Magazine.
