I am a Principal Technology Advisor in the AI Compliance team of the Information Commissioner's Office based in Edinburgh (UK).
Previously, I was a Senior Research Scientist in the Amazon Artificial General Intelligence team building the Amazon Nova models. I was working on Responsible AI topics including fact verification. Previously I had worked on question answering and knowledge extraction (entity linking, relation extraction)
Before joining Amazon I was a postdoc at the Cognitive Computation Group at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (now at UPenn), where I worked with Dan Roth on extending Semantic Role Labeling (SRL) and Cindy Fisher on computational models of language acquisition.
I received a PhD in Computational Linguistics fron the University of Edinburgh working with Mark Steedman and Sharon Goldwater. My PhD research focused on the underlying structure of syntactic categories (not necessarily Parts-Of-Speech) across languages and how (or if) they relate to semantic primitives.
Before starting my PhD, I received a MSc degree in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh and before that an undergraduate degree in Digital Systems and Technology Education from the University of Piraeus in Greece.
