Daily Herald : "GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The leader of a small Florida church that espouses anti-Islam philosophy says he is canceling plans to burn copies of the Quran on Sept. 11.

Pastor Terry Jones said Thursday that he decided to cancel his protest because the leader of a planned Islamic Center near ground zero has agreed to move its controversial location. The agreement couldn't be immediately confirmed.

Jones' plans to burn Islam's holiest text Saturday sparked an international outcry.

President Barack Obama, the top U.S. general in Afghanistan and several Christian leaders had urged Jones to reconsider his plans. They said his actions would endanger U.S. soldiers and provide a strong recruitment tool for Islamic extremists. Jones' protest also drew criticism from religious and political leaders from across the Muslim world.

NYPOST.com: "A piece of the heart and soul — and, literally, the backbone — of the Twin Towers made an emotional return to Ground Zero yesterday.

The first of two steel “tridents” that once formed the base of the soaring towers was lowered into place at the 9/11 memorial, where they will stand sentinel as poignant reminders of the missing skyscrapers.

On a day when city and state leaders gathered to tout the progress in rebuilding the site, the arrival of the trident columns was an emotional reminder of what was lost nine years ago.

'The tridents are visual references to the towers that once stood at the World Trade Center,' said Mayor Bloomberg, who serves as chairman of the memorial foundation's board.

Salvaged from the wreckage of the north tower, the first of two 70-foot-tall sections of the massive columns that flared into three prongs was raised over the site by a crane as hundreds of hardhats looked on.

Held aloft, the trident, covered in shrink wrap, slowly spun as workers lowered it to its base. It will be located in the visitor's center, a glass building that will serve as the entrance to the 9/11 museum.

There's no shortage of info on it, that's for sure, no matter what side you stand on, the official story, or the tinfoil hat version, which some days I hate to admit looks more believable than ever with this government we see exposed in front of us today.

The way I look at it (911) and always will is this:

It's the very least we can do and owe the families and victims of that day frankly, the VERY LEAST meaning 'to never forgive and never forget what happened that day, reminding the world what Islam did that day, and make damn sure it never happens again.

This year in particular is even more meaningful for a couple more reasons, one of them being what many (me included) believe to be 'radical Muslims' now trying to hijack the immediate area around Ground Zero in the form of a so called "community center."

A 'community center' I remind you is for the "MUSLIM" community only which is really cloaking a MUSLIM ONLY Mosque up on the top floor there, the thirteenth, to be essentially used to worship the killers by peering out the windows and seeing the handiwork of those who took 3000 American and westerner's lives that day. (It's placement there is for that one reason only, and anyone who can't see it should be held complicit in the next attacks ....which are sure to come with all this Muslim appeasement in the air.)

I will say though, that for the first time since that day, I am somewhat happy to report Muslims aren't the only ones building down there, and something a little different is happening in DC, particularly since many of us have been part of it in one way or another since Obama came to town, and that is the movement afoot to take back the country from out of these 'way out of control' lawbreaking lawmakers, scum of which we've NEVER SEEN in our lifetimes in our government, including Nixon and friends.

This group in power now makes that (NIXON and Watergate) look like a tea party! (pun intended.)

How 9.12 March on D.C. plans to rock Washington: "Hundreds of thousands of Americans already have marched on Washington, D.C., and millions have been energized by the nationwide tea-party movement, but from Sept. 9-12, the patriotic protesters will gather again in the nation's capital to pick up the tools they say are needed to 'take back America.'

More than just another rally, the 2010 March on D.C. is a four-day long series of events, combining the efforts of more than 50 grassroots organizations and targeted at training and equipping tea partiers to make a difference in the 2010 elections and beyond.

'This will be probably be the most important election in any of our lives,' declares Stephani Scruggs, national co-chair of The 9.12 Project and president of Unite In Action, which have spearheaded organization of the event. 'But November doesn't fix everything. We need to teach people how to protect their local areas, states and regions from sharia law, government land grabs, rogue school boards and any attempts to erode American freedom.

'So what we're doing is real, classroom training,' Scruggs told WND. 'There's been a lot of events with famous people and politicians talking, but what we wanted to do differently was to allow people to go home on the Monday afterward with the tools to preserve liberty for the long term.'

The four-day event, which will be based at Washington's Omni Shoreham Hotel, will include a symposium of training events – including the Young Patriots Tour, the Religious Leaders Roundtable and others – as well as presentations and seminars by over a dozen grassroots groups, a concert, VIP reception, ladies' banquet and an expo featuring displays and exhibits from a myriad of tea-party organizations.

Best of all, Scruggs told WND, the Liberty XPO (Xhibit of Patriot Organizations) and Syposium, which includes the training seminars and presentations, will be free.

Report: Iran Paying Taliban to Kill U.S. Troops: "KABUL -- At least five Iranian companies in Afghanistan's capital are using their offices covertly to finance Taliban militants in provinces near Kabul, according to an investigation by London's Sunday Times.

Afghan intelligence and Taliban sources have told the newspaper that the firms, set up in the past six months, provide cash for a network of district Taliban treasurers to pay battlefield expenses and bonuses for killing the enemy and destroying their vehicles.

The Iranian companies win contracts to supply materials and logistics to Afghans involved in reconstruction. The money often comes in the form of aid from foreign donors.

Profits are transferred through poorly regulated Afghan banks — including Kabul Bank, which is partly owned by President Hamid Karzai’s brother Mahmood — to Tehran and Dubai.

From these countries, the money returns to Afghanistan through the informal Islamic banking system known as hawala to be dispersed to the Taliban.

Jesse Jackson's car stolen in Detroit :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Metro & Tri-State: "The Rev. Jesse Jackson found out just how rough things are in Detroit.

Several Detroit media outlets reported thieves stole Jackson’s ride — a 2009 Cadillac Escalade — from a parking lot near the city’s Doubletree Hotel.

The SUV was later recovered, but it was found without its rims and one of its windows had been broken, according to Detroit’s WXYZ-TV.

Jackson was in Detroit for a march and rally called “Rebuild America: Jobs, Justice and Peace.”

Just days after Jackson’s SUV was stolen, one of Detroit Mayor Dave Bing’s vehicles also went missing. The GMC Yukon Denali was later found resting on bricks, also missing its rims.

13 workers on exploded rig are safe, one injured - "GRAND ISLE, LA (WLOX/AP) - All 13 people on board a burning offshore petroleum platform in the Gulf are safe.

The platform exploded Thursday morning and is still burning, about 80 miles off the Louisiana coast. It's west of the Deepwater Horizon site.

The Coast Guard said no one was killed in the blast, which was reported by a commercial helicopter flying over the area. All 13 people aboard the rig have been accounted for, with one injury. The extent of the injury is not known.

A Coast Guard spokeswoman said some of those from the rig were spotted in emergency flotation devices. She said authorities do not know whether oil is leaking from the site.
