Magnus Vinding is the author of Suffering-Focused Ethics: Defense and Implications (2020), Reasoned Politics (2022), and Essays on Suffering-Focused Ethics (2022).

He received a degree in mathematics from the University of Copenhagen and has published many essays related to suffering reduction on his blog.

Tobias Baumann has written about a variety of topics relating to how we can best reduce suffering in the long-term future on his website, with an emphasis on how to avoid worst-case outcomes (s-risks). He is the author of Avoiding the Worst: How to Prevent a Moral Catastrophe, which outlines ways to steer the world away from s-risks and towards a brighter future.

Previously, Tobias worked as a quantitative trader at Jane Street Capital and pursued research at University College London on Cooperative Artificial Intelligence.

Alistair Stewart works on fundraising and partnerships. He is interested in the impact of powerful AI on sentient nonhumans, and organised the AI, Animals, & Digital Minds 2025 conference in London with Sentient Futures. He has worked full-time in animal activism, holds an MSc in global governance and ethics from UCL, and previously served as an officer in the British Army.

David Veldran is currently a PhD student at the University of Pittsburgh, specializing in moral and political philosophy. His interests include well-being, longtermism, space colonisation, and the ethics of AI and emerging technologies. He writes concise and accessible posts to be published on a CRS Substack and blog.

Zoé Roy-Stang`s focus areas include internal coordination and the Intro to S-risks fellowship in collaboration with Sentient Futures, where she previously helped with program design. She also co-founded the Theory of Change Builder project.

Alistair Webster - CRS Communications Manager

Alistair Webster works as a communications and strategy consultant for CRS. He has previously worked as a freelancer and marketing consultant, helping non-profits and charities increase their impact using digital marketing. He is also a co-founder of Freelancing for Good.

Simon Knutsson works part-time on specific texts for the CRS website and provides feedback to CRS staff on their texts.

Brian Tomasik serves as an advisor to CRS. He is well-known for writing over 100 pieces about ethics, animal welfare, and far-future scenarios from a suffering-focused perspective on his main website, “Essays On Reducing Suffering“.

Olivier Bertrand serves as an advisor to CRS. He also organizes meetups and presentations on suffering-focused ethics in France.
