Captain Dale Elsa Norley holds a USCG 100-ton license with 106,000 nm experience including eight transatlantic voyages. She has been a writer for Latitudes & Attitudes magazine since its original conception and a part of the corporate publishing world before turning to yacht delivery full time. Educated at University of Pennsylvania, she is a single mother of two grown daughters, has three grandsons and is an avid rider and fox hunter. Until recently, she was a single-hander and live-aboard on her Hardin Voyager 44, Estimated Prophet.
Recently relocated to Chester County, PA and newly married, Captain Norley continues to deliver vessels from New England to Bermuda and the Caribbean as well as Transatlantic deliveries. With much catamaran and traditional monohull experience, she brings with her an attention to detail, love of sailing and an extreme respect for the vessels she skippers.
Dale –
I will look for your blog – nice to see a picture of you on the Starrlite –
FYI – we are now back in San Francisco having made it from Oxford, MD, up the Hudson River, Erie Canal, Great Lakes, Mississippi River, Tenn-Tom River, Houston, (via truck) San Diego and then back to San Francisco. We are looking to a visit from you in San Francisco to give us a chance to catch up. Hope all is well and lots of people need their boat moved around. Sorry – it is more fun to sail it myself – you will understand.
What’s this I hear about a new husband – hummm –good for you – tie a bowline on this one – no granny knots.
Happy Sailing.
Jim and Jo Patrick –
Starrlite
p.s. – lots of people sail the BaHa race in November/December and need their boat sailed back from Cabo up north. An ad placed in Lattitude 38 about now should produce results.

Hi Capt. Dale,
My old college friend (and your friend I hear) AlexisR recommends your blog. I’m always up for personal sailing accounts, and from a multihuller, better yet. I have a Catri 24 racer/cruiser that I race on the Chesapeake Bay. Much fun!
Fair winds and following seas,
/John
