Is your header photo new? I was noticing the lovely ice and hoarfrost – we had “frozen fog”, a term I wasn’t familiar with, the other morning. I was sure that the bare branches and twigs that I saw on my way to work had to be covered in hoarfrost, and I was longing to be taking photos rather than going in to work!

I agree with you about grief. It is a step many try to skip or breeze past. My mom chose a more difficult path when her husband and father died in quick succession and joined a class about grieving that had a companion book she passed on to me. It really is a topic that should be taught, as we aren’t given the tools to cope with that giant feeling.

Ever since Tim died, when she comes to visit, Bisciut paces and whimpers almost the whole time she’s here. When she sits in front of me and gazes into my eyes my tears come and I tell her I miss him, too. Your thoughts on grief resonate with me deeply.

Tue, 06 Jan 2026 11:23:05 +0000https://breezesatdawn.wordpress.com/?p=35349#comment-44748I would have a very hard time leaving a loved pet buried when it became time to move. Even though I know I would have to. Sending hugs. Last night while driving home from dog school with Penny in the back seat I suddenly had a Katie moment and I began to cry so hard it was difficult to drive. And of course that morphed into crying for my parents and my aunt and friends until by the time I made it home I was a complete mess. Grief is such a snowball. I’m so sorry about Izzy.

Sat, 03 Jan 2026 11:58:35 +0000https://breezesatdawn.wordpress.com/?p=35316#comment-44744Hi hi. There is something serene about reading you here, not interrupted by noise, given length to express your full thoughts.
As others said, exactly… there was good in 2025- some things very close to my heart happened this year. The wider stage of what happened in the country has been a nearly daily heartbreak that colored it all.
Wherever you continue writing, Im grateful you are there. Wishing you and yours a beautiful and gentler 2026.

So many of us/ especially bloggers who have been around for a long time are having similar feelings on these same topics.
But onward through the fog. Hang in there. Your images are delightful – as well as your writing.
May the New Year shower you with wonder, delight, and laughter – lots of laughter!
