Believe me, i’m usually the most unattentive audience whenever there’s a speech.

But there really was something different about commencement, which made me pay attention to the 5 speakers of the day. Many shared from the hearts or from speeches penned by their hired communication professionals.. Anecdotes of the prodigal son turned good, stories which resonated in us (times when we camped on campus) and importantly, the painting of a picture where we’re promised a future.

The idealist in me wanted to give a standing ovation for what was being said. The realist in me scoffed at those words. I was taught to treat life situations with integrity but where did it go during the tests in class? Just because everyone else is doing so, it’s definitely too easy to lose myself in it all.

i want to forget the glitzy surroundings and just be me. The wide-eyed one who believes she can makes a difference and save the world 🙂
