Year 2 of the Digital Processing Collaborative (DPC) included demos, discussions, and a fair share of “aha!” (and “huh?”) moments. We focused on clarifying responsibilities around born-digital processing and most importantly identifying what “processing” actually includes. That clarity allowed us to update our Processing Manual which was a big win for the year. But when we asked ourselves how we would actually accomplish those tasks, things began to look a little unclear.

When I first applied to the Rockefeller Archive Center internship, I didn’t know what to expect. All I knew was that a librarian at my school (CCNY) recommended I apply. I have always been a very curious person, so when she told me about how she became an archivist and there was an opportunity of possibly interning at the RAC, I was intrigued. I spoke to my career advisor and learned more about the application process. After hearing about it in more depth I decided to apply. I was super excited to start the internship.

This year’s iPRES was one of firsts.

Last week I attended TAG 2025, a global conference for technology leaders and practitioners in philanthropy. TAG is always a fascinating opportunity to jump into very different conversations and ways of thinking than I’m used to, which helps to usefully expand my vocabulary and frame of reference. This year’s conference was no different. Many of the conference sessions and informal conversations were focused on AI, as you might expect, but the tenor of these conversations was decidedly different than in years past.

Upon graduating from the L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation in June, I was pleased to learn I had been awarded a Fellowship at the Rockefeller Archive Center (RAC), and that I’d be working under fellow Selznick alum and current RAC Sound & Moving Image Archivist Brent Phillips. In addition to my prior work experience as a professional film negative cutter and the recent Selznick program, the opportunity to train in an apprentice/colleague-style position at the RAC has been invaluable for rounding out my film archiving knowledge and skill set.
