Common Problems | The Science of Black Hair
Keeping our hair and scalp on the “up and up” can be stressful. Our bodies are always changing and slowly aging—and our hair and skin are very sensitive to these changes of life.
Some of the most common kinds of hair and scalp issues that women with textured hair types experience are:
- Hair Loss
- Telogen Effluvium (Excessive hair shedding)
- Hair Breakage
- Traction Alopecia
- Androgentic Alopecia
- Alopecia Areata
- Dandruff
- Seborrheic Dermatitis
- Psoriasis
- Eczema
Many of these hair care problems can be caused by many different types of behavioral triggers, and it’s not impossible to experience multiple issues together at once. Genetics can also play a role in who experiences specific hair and scalp issues, when those issues become a factor (age-wise) and to what degree they become a factor if they do.
In our book, Hair Care Rehab, we offer simple (and whenever possible— natural solutions) for many of these common hair and scalp issues.
