Birds of the Canyons is a transdisciplinary project combining Science, Art, and the Humanities in studying the lives of campus birds. Through collaborative work between students and faculty across academic disciplines we combine biological research, art, literature, and communications to ask:
What can birds teach us about our campus community and our relationship with the environment?
The range of bird species one can spot on campus, from tiny song sparrows to enormous turkey vultures, reminds us of how the local and the global are interconnected, and how we as humans are informed and inspired by the biodiversity of our land.
Check out our bird index above for a listing of bird species on campus, featuring student art, poetry, and biological research.
