beyond the window

I live in New York City, but am originally from Europe. I have a wonderful husband who doesn’t care that I often wear sweatpants at home. I like being comfortable.

Sometimes I think I might like to have a cat. From time to time I sit at the top of our staircase, look down at my husband and tell him that if we had a cat, she would totally would sit there and look down at us.

I love languages and grew up speaking several of them. I may occasionally write words or phrases in another languages than English. Don’t let this faze you.

I am a freelance translator and have worked for the United Nations among other institutions.

I am also a Reiki Master and work as a therapist in Manhattan, in my private practice and at a cancer center. Reiki is a gentle touch therapy that promotes the body’s ability to heal itself and restores physical and emotional well-being.

I adore food. I adore reading and thinking and talking about it. I adore cooking it. I adore eating it. But this is not a food blog.

I like alphabetical lists, bodies of water, even numbers, red-heads.

I dislike litterbugs, shoes that hurt, sticky lip gloss, pigeons.
