Of my twenty-eight years, I’ve spent the majority of them in school and six of them cooking in restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. During those six I cooked and sweated the hours away. When I had time, I read. Disciplinary artistry couldn’t keep me in the kitchen. And intellectual inquiry has brought me this far, and to the ‘other’ coast.

Today I am a grad student at NYU and still playing with food, only this time, academically. My thoughts are entwined in cooking, still, but even more so, in research. Research both drives and exhausts my intelligence, while cooking compulsively distracts me. Because if this, I go crazy. My blog exhibits this dichotomy and will, I hope, clear the mess a little (or at least provide an outline).
