Hi, I’m Steven Hamblin. Here’s a short introduction: I’m a postdoctoral research associate in the School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences at the University of New South Wales, currently working on viral and bacterial evolution. I did my Ph. D. in Biology at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), studying social foraging behaviours using computational and mathematical modeling (see my website for more on what I do). This blog represents my attempt to get my confused, rambling thoughts into the open air to give them some room to breathe while I get to grips with the field I remain invested in: behavioural ecology, the study of the “evolutionary and ecological bases for animal behaviour”. With my recent shift in subject matter, though, I expect that this blog will begin to blend more and more evolutionary biology into the mix as I bring the threads of my education into a single tapestry.
Overall this blog will, hopefully, feature material from my readings and work, as well as general thoughts on science and life. Your comments and questions are welcome!
