Sat, 26 Dec 2009 11:06:54 +0000https://banglapraxis.wordpress.com/?p=1300#comment-2425Nothing saddens me than to see Manipur being used as a scape goat for the selfish and greedy Indian administration, over and over again. The Tipaimukh Dam is not the first and may not be the last line on the exploitation list of the heavenly and innocent state Manipur. The shameful cry of the Manipuris for what the GOI has plundered and done to beautiful Loktak lake their legend, pride and future shall burn ethernally in the hearts of the Manipuris.
It breaks my heart that the Bangladeshi people whom the Manipuris love and cherish, shall now fall victim to the slaughter for what we never meant to do.
We protest the T Dam like hell and we urge Bangladesh to join hands with us.

Comment on Rich Countries’ Carbon Debt: $23 trillion by Obama: World-Killer | Jewbonics

Fri, 18 Dec 2009 23:13:52 +0000https://banglapraxis.wordpress.com/?p=1337#comment-2422[…] So to watch Obama jerkily rotating his head, repeating the words his speech-writers drafted for him perhaps 5 hours before the speech (it looks like he hadn't even read it before delivering it), sanctimoniously muttering that "our ability to take collective action is in doubt right now" is infuriating. The notion of “collective action” suggests “collective responsibility.” But who is this collective? Why is “everyone” responsible? The global North’s climate debt—the dollar-amount of over-use of the atmospheric commons, both historical and projected given reasonable reductions in CO2 emissions—is 23 trillion dollars. […]

Comment on The Virtues of Deglobalization by ricky ward

Sat, 05 Sep 2009 15:55:43 +0000https://banglapraxis.wordpress.com/?p=1380#comment-2355Please let me hint at my dissatisfaction with Walden’s latest contribution.
Neo-liberal Globalisation has long been proven to be a disaster for life on Earth, Human and otherwise.
That cannot be said for anarcho-socialist globalisation which is yet to be tried. However, when applied, great socialist principles have been dramatic successes. Free and universal public health and education and equality of the sexes have done wonders for both avowedly socialist and so-called mixed societies.
The right to work and the guarantee of employment practised for decades in the socialist countries gave all the dignity of a job and the fellowship of workmates.
Housing is a right in a civilised society and as a Russian I met at Bangkok airport not so long ago said to me (under socialism) “we were all millionaires” referring to the fact that no longer can non-millionaires afford to own a Moscow apartment.
I object to Walden’s quote “the failure of centralized socialism and capitalism”. All societies have both failures and successes but only socialist societies have had the successes I refer to above which are central to any notion of a fair, decent and inclusive society.
The Left was once dominated by the Internationals. The socialist version of globalisation. We need to return to this way of thinking, which need not imply domination by a Stalinist orthodoxy, to re-learn all the lessons both negative and positive from socialist history and build a new Socialist vision to sustain life on Earth and Human Happiness.

I know India will not listen any request because they know Bangladesh is very much dependent on them and not only that they also think that the present government will not do any thing against them as the government has been blessed by them and will listen what Indian Govt.would like to do.But it is people if united and protest against it no power in the world can construct this dam that will create a disaster for the people of Monipura, Assam and Bangladesh.

Mon, 10 Aug 2009 04:11:58 +0000https://banglapraxis.wordpress.com/?p=1300#comment-2311Indians are established water thiefs and unfortunately not enjoying a good reputition. Farraka is an old case, while in the recent past the Indians are choking Pakistan’s water share by constructing Bhagliar Dam over River Chenab. A thief understands just one language and that’s kick on the butts. So is the case with India.
