In past seasons, I enjoyed the post-episode comments and insights here perhaps even as much as the show. It was much quieter this season. I hope that everyone is well, and I just want to thank Maitri and the Krewe for this.
David Simon has also been known to stop by and if he does again this year, for his benefit, I just want to say I continue to be a huge fan of his. To you, Mr. Simon, please keep making great TV. I will be looking and listening for news of your next show, and then anticipating it with as much pleasure and expectation as I did Generation Kill and Treme.
Cheers!
Michael

Albert’s passing and Delmond’s new life. Davis keeping on, Hidalgo doing right by Janette, every scene with LaDonna, “Mac’s on the phone”, Antoine introducing the boys to Mr. Dr. John and the joy of seeing Dr. John himself. Treme is why I felt moved to move to LA, the most wonderful place I’ve lived. Thank you Mr. Simon and Mr. Overmeyer for creating a work of such tenderness and grace.

New thread, please? Or were the Saints playing? Confession: Although I love New Orleans, I don’t follow the Saints. Also, I don’t like football because it’s too violent, but I like the Saints.

I lost my father earlier this year, and my daughter moved away from me to live with her mom in New Jersey. Treme is a show I have loved and followed since the beginning, especially loving the music and restaurant background. I see it go with a heavy heart, impressed as always with the quality and love that goes into every episode. It will stand the test of time, and also serves as a beautiful piece of cultural history. Bravo, David and Eric. Take a bow, fantastic crew. I’ll miss you a lot.

Well, next week it’s Mardi Gras. We’ve been trying to guess what who when etc. But in the end, New Orleans will keep rolling. Until the great climate change changes all of us and everything that’s anywhere near Big Water.

Comment on Episode Three Open Thread by Constance Sublette

Wed, 18 Dec 2013 23:37:23 +0000https://backoftown.wordpress.com/?p=2832#comment-5842It’s like the Land ‘O Lakes Indian Woman — the Kid Orrey thread in this episode. A white guy pretending to play ‘bone in a movie as Kid Orrey, while Antoine Batiste actually plays the ‘bone, who doesn’t actually play either, and though we don’t see, we know there’s somebody behind him! My head just about broke. Still, a moment of lightness, that isn’t really light, because Kid Orrey wasn’t a white guy. Oooofta.
Are we happy that Janette is ending up where the series began, with a restaurant that isn’t making a living and Davis?
The discussion as to who will take ’em out as Big Chief if ….
Larry’s sure put up with a lot. Those boys of Antoine’s and LaDanna’s — if not for Larry where would they be?
