Our Mission
income by virtue of their talent, creativity and hard work,
not a handout. In this way, we can help the artists and
those whom they support to maintain a level of dignity in
these most undignified times.
As well, we have and will continue to organize
exhibitions from Artists around the globe who are in
similar circumstances to that of the Iraqi people. There
are millions of people worldwide who suffer, caught in the
middle of brutal conflicts in which they do not participate,
but which victimize them nonetheless. Through our exhibitions, we provide a much needed,
more comprehensive and humanistic view of the people
and cultures in which these artists live to the Chicago
community and the American public in general. It is our
goal to promote understanding and compassion for
people who live under tyranny and oppression.
65% of the pretax sale of art goes directly to
the artists and their families.

What is this radio goodness we speak of? If you mark your calendar, make your tea, and mosey over to the nearest radio or computer on the first Sunday night of every month will it be moving enough for your mind and ears? Take a listen, here:
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركات

We start this blog for the listeners and supporters of Azan Radio with the prospect that it may not be around for much longer. God willing, in the next couple months, we’ll discover that Loyola University values independent community radio and considers Azan an indispensable asset. Until then, we hold our collective breath, grab our mics, and offer the airwaves to do-ers of good, makers of change, professors of wisdom, and musicians of the soul.
Azan puts a human face on the faith of Islam, combats Islamophobia, and creates a discourse within the Muslim community and beyond. You can tune in on the second Sunday night of every month at 6:00pm on 88.7fm WLUW. Also, listen on the web at www.wluw.org
