Autonomy Acres is the personal blog and writings of Andy Russell. I am a husband, father, beekeeper, urban farmer, home brewer, amateur mycologist, DIY tinkerer, and citizen scientist. I try to live life seasonally, and often times my writing and hobbies reflect whatever time of year it may happen to be.
But I also am a futurist, and I have turned my 1/2 acre homestead into a living laboratory experimenting with a diverse array of homesteading skills and traditions that I feel will be useful in the years ahead.
I believe the society we are living in is experiencing the first stages of collapse that many other civilizations have already gone through. This is not the end of the world, but a common trait that civilizations share when they misuse the Earth’s natural resources and treat the living land in irresponsible ways and out grow its carrying capacity.
Autonomy Acres is one of my responses to this situation and a small attempt to contribute something positive to this world. If we are going to avoid another dark age, than it is the responsibility of as many of us as we can get on board, to start living like it really matters, and begin to create the world we want to live in. Contact me at autonomyacres@gmail.com for questions about educational opportunities, whats happening at our homestead, or anything else you want to chat about. Peace and Cheers!

Hi, nice to meet you !
Nice Picture!! The Blog is pretty cool too!
A secular homesteading blog! Thank goodness. I can appreciate everyone’s efforts, but it’s nice to be able to read something without a bunch of religion laced through.
@Brianne – No problem! Feel free to follow Autonomy Acres through the subscription button, or just follow us on Facebook. Enjoy, and Happy Gardening!
