This website is dedicated to Ezekiel Taylor Ash, my great-grandfather. Somewhat of a legend in our family, he left his quaint fishing village in Newfoundland and sailed around the world prior to settling in Victoria, BC in the last years of the 19th century. My grandmother adored him, and lost him far too early in life. I have always felt a particular connection with Taylor, despite the fact that he died 43 years prior to my birth. He was an adventurer, a bayman, and a loving husband and father. He remains fondly remembered, more than 80 years after his death.
