A Red Room

So, Who am I, and why am I here?  Or maybe you’re asking why you’re here? 

I am a wife and mother living in a small town in central Kansas.  I have two great kids, Alex and Chaz, who you’ll be hearing lots about, I’m sure, so I won’t go into a lot of detail here.  I have a wonderful husband, the musical Mr. S, I call him, otherwise known as Stuart the Musician. 

What do I do?  I am lucky enough to get to stay home whilst my husband goes to teach band to students grades 5-12. 

I’ll be posting on what I’m sewing, beading, cooking, learning, reading and looking at on the web.  I’m a new fashion design student online!  I am so excited about this new path I am taking that I wanted to share it with others!  Besides what I’m doing for my classwork, I always have my own projects going for my family and home.  I also make jewelry, and have several necklaces on order for Christmas that I will be starting soon. 

I’m also trying to cook more.  I’ve only been a stay-at-home mum (no, I’m not english, but I love all things English!) since this summer, so I’m trying to do more cooking and baking.  I’ll be posting recipes and escapades with Chaz in the kitchen.   I’ve had some health issues over the last year, and due to the medications I’ve had to take, I’ve gained an extra 25 pounds that is now sitting around my waist and thighs laughing at me.  So…Because of that, and my family, I’m also trying to be a much healthier cook.

My husband and I are also lucky enough to get to go to Europe every other summer with a group of high school band and choir students, so I’ll be posting about those journeys as well!  Our next trip is coming Summer 2009!  I can’t wait!

So, now you’re probably wondering.  Why A Red Room?  I have always wanted a red room of my very own.  To decorate just how I want it.  It seems I am finally going to get one!  My husband has promised me a sewing room for my Christmas present!  Alas, it won’t quite be my very own, my daughter Alex will need somewhere to sleep when she visits from college, but I still get to decorate and organize it anyway I like as long as there’s a bed in it for her!  So, while for right now these posts will mostly be coming from my green kitchen  or bedroom, in just a few months they will be coming straight from A Red Room!
