Matthew 23:23-24
23″Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel. ”
How often does this happen in life today? We’ll do certain things because it’s the right thing to do, and because it’s easier to do, but when the right thing to do becomes difficult we entirely neglect it. How easy is it to go to church on Sunday morning, and then spend $4 on a cup of coffee rather than using the money to care for the widow and orphan? How easy is it to judge a brother or sister for crude language or sexual immorality and then watch a movie filled with the same filth you were rebuking moments earlier? It’s not right. Sin is sin no matter how we try to dress it up. Trust me, that camel is gonna hurt a whole lot worse when your body tries to get rid of it!
