my qualms, The camera that hangs over the TV kindla spoils the slimline tv look, would be better if it had some kind of low mount looking up, or better yet some HDMI intercept to have no camera at all, maybe too difficult with handshaking ans such.

I also dont like it for scifi movies, the OLED blacks and not helped by the ambiance, I turn it off for anything in space.

This TV backlight exceeded my expectations! The colors are bright, vibrant, and sync surprisingly well with what’s happening on the screen, making movies, gaming, and sports much more immersive. The camera calibration was simple, and the app made setup quick and easy.

I also love that it supports voice control, so changing colors and effects is effortless. The LED strip sticks securely to the TV, and the lighting effects are smooth and responsive.

This does a good job of adding extra element to watching tv. Doing the calibration took a few tries as you’re trying to pick a spot on the tv that’s shown in a fisheye perspective but once you got it it’s cool how it picks color shades to duplicate on the led. The app lets you choose when you want the effect to happen so it’s confusing the day.

This TV lighting kit from Lepro helps reduce eye strain when viewing tv in darker rooms along with providing enhanced lighting for a more immersive experience.

The kit includes everything needed, which consists of a roll of LED lights, a camera-based controller module, a power cable with an adapter, some adhesive mounting clips and strips, and a number of small foam blocks which are used for calibration.

There is a little setup involved, which isn’t too difficult. This LED kit is for 55” to 65” televisions, and you need to have a wall or surface of some type behind your television so the lights have something to reflect off of. Obviously, a white or light-coloured wall will deliver the best results.

The LEDs are in a typical silicone-covered strip and have an adhesive backing. It comes as 1 long length consisting of 4 LED strip sections joined together by flexible cables at the corners. You have 2 sections that are around 46” long and 2 edge sections that are around 22” long. I am using this on a 65” tv and found I had to attach the strips inward towards the centre and away from the edges a little more to prevent the gaps at the corners being too large. There are adhesive plastic clips included that you can also attach for a little extra reinforcement as well as some adhesive strips to flatten down the corner wires if needed.

With the LED strip in place, the camera unit mounts at the top centre edge of your tv and gets secured down with adhesives as well. From there, the end of the LED light strip (which has a USB-C connector) plugs into the camera as does the power cable with the other end going to your outlet. You can further stick down these cables for a more neat installation once it is all in place.

With the physical installation done, you then need to finish the set up in the Lepro app, which requires creating an account and accepting some permissions. Through the app, you need to connect the light strips to your Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz only), and then there is also a calibration procedure to go through, which involves temporarily placing the included red foam blocks around your tv screen.

Once up and running, the LED lights provide a nice multi-coloured background behind your tv and the camera mounted at the top does a pretty good job matching the LED colours around the tv to the image on the screen for some impressive dynamic lighting. There are a few settings you can further adjust to tune it to your liking in the app as well. It’s not perfect…sometimes the colours seem a little off or faded compared to the screen, but overall it does a good job and is fairly responsive. I definitely like the immersion and novelty it provides, and having light blending outwards from your tv does help to reduce eye strain as well, which is one of the main purposes of tv backlighting.

Aside from having it dynamically match your tv screen, you can manually set the colours as well. There is a section in the app that lets you choose the colour of each strip section, or if you want more accuracy, you can go into the precision mode, which lets you set the colours in finer detail all the way around along with applying a few effects such as breathing, rotating, etc. If my math is correct, there are 108 LED lights in total, and you can customize them in blocks of 3 at a time and save your creations as well for quick access. When powered off and back on again, the lights will go to your last used setting, which I like.

There aren’t really any preset themes included (there is a community section but it mainly seems for other products as far as I could tell), like some other apps, but it does have an AI section where you can ask it to create a certain theme and it will deliver a set of colour schemes and effect patterns it thinks matches your request. This can be hit or miss but produces quite a few good results and is fun with endless possibilities.

In addition, you also have a music mode that the lights will dance to as well, but I don’t use that often myself.

Overall, the lights work well, but there are a few small annoyances as well. The lights don’t appear to have dedicated white LEDs and instead mix the colours to create shades of white. This often creates a slightly noticeable tint instead of being able to have pure white.

I find it hard to completely hide the cables going into the camera at the top since they attach directly to the back/corner edges above the tv screen and stick out a bit. It’s not bad but visible from some angles and I would have preferred they connected from below the camera so they were more hidden behind the tv.

When plugged into power or after a power outage, the lights automatically come on. If you had a power outage while you were away, then you can expect to come home to the lights being on, which I’m not a fan of and couldn’t find a fix for in the app. I’d prefer that they stayed off when power is restored.

The app can be a little janky at times…there have been a handful of occasions where I would switch pages in the app and it just basically froze with a spinning circle on the screen, forcing me to restart it.

There is an indicator light on the side of the camera which I find pretty bright and annoying in a darker room…thankfully this can actually be disabled in the app but it’s on by default so be aware of that.

Overall, this is an effective lighting kit that once you get used to using, makes tv viewing without it feel like something’s missing. It’s not perfect but overall it does a good job and at its current price which includes a coupon, is priced quite fairly against the competition.

I wanted to add a bit of fun lighting to my media room, and ended up wanting to give this STV1 AI RGBIC TV Backlight by Lypro for my 65-inch TV and I'm SO glad I gave it a go, as this has become one of my favorite "home improvement" mods in recent history. The tech itself seems revolutionary to me, its just awesome how it works... the camera with that fish-eye correction does a solid job reading the screen and matching the colors behind it in real time. Scenes feel more alive now, whether I'm watching a movie with deep blues and greens or something fast-paced with bright action.

The RGBIC strips give nice vibrant and accurate lighting without any weird bleeding or lag that I've noticed. Lepro's LightIMS tech keeps things responsive, which is perfect for gaming sessions where the lights shift right along with the on-screen action. It just adds that extra layer of depth to the room.

Setup took barely any time at all. The strip sticks nicely along the back of the TV and the combined camera-controller unit is straightforward to position on top. I like using the app to tweak things or let voice commands handle it through Alexa. The whole set up integrates very smoothly and offers some fun AI-generated scenes too.

Movie nights especially stand out with the Lepro STV1 AI RGBIC TV Backlight. The room lights up in sync with what's happening, making everything feel more immersive without overpowering the screen. It's a simple addition that elevates the whole viewing experience in a natural way. Just to put into context how much I love this, I have a giant 85 inch TV in my living room, but I have a hard time moving to that, as watching things on the TV with this backlight installed is just so much more fun.
