About me

The name of my blog is inspired by a song by Sara Groves called “All Right Here”. The lyrics speak best for themselves (excerpts):

“It’s every loss and every love, it’s every blessing from above, here I am all added up, oh it’s all right here…….And I’m not God, I’m a girl, I confess that I don’t have sea of forgetfulness. No, it’s all right here. It makes me stronger and makes me wince, it makes me think twice when I pick my friends. Oh, it’s all right here………It’s what is best and what is worse, it’s how I see the universe. It’s in every line and every verse, oh, it’s all right here.”

We are all a result of the life we’ve lead. A product of our environment, a mix of nature and nurture, and infinitely complex. I am marked by “every loss and every love…..every lesson from above….” I am what I have experienced and learned. Good and bad, yupp – it’s all right here.

One of the things I have learned is to accept myself for who I am – to not care so much about what other people think. If I like my home, my clothes, and my music, then what does it matter if you don’t? You don’t live here, wear my clothes or listen to my music 😉 I don’t know why I wasted so many years worrying about those things.

Being me includes a busy and sometimes (read: always) complicated life, a husband who is ‘always’ working, two very lively little daughters, and a home that looks like people live in it. I am a chatty, exuberant extrovert who can’t function without a good portion of solitude. I’m born in Brooklyn to Norwegian parents and have lived my life in Norway and New York. I ride the roller coaster that is my life. At times the ride leaves me white-knuckled and breathless… and at times it leaves me brimming with joy and buckled over in belly-laughter.

I’ll be blogging as a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, woman, human, employee, co-worker, sinner, saint, semi-expat… the complex cocktail of who I am in this life I lead… I’m All Right Here.

I’ve wanted to start a blog for the longest time, and putsed with it for a while, but just didn’t like the format… when I finally got happy with it about a week ago I started posting links on FB – glad you found it 😀 I’m having fun with it 😀
