FEATURED PHOTOGRAPHER: William Ronald Ross II
February 4 – 24, 2010
Greetings. My name is William Ronald Ross II. I was born and reared in Salt
Lake City, Utah, but currently reside in Louisville, Kentucky with my lovely
wife and two very happy children.
In my late twenties, I took a ten-day vacation with my father to Thailand,
where he handed me his camera and said, “You take the photos”, and so it
began.
My first camera was a Ricoh 35mm. I moved on to a Nikon 35mm and today, I
proudly use an older Nikon D50 DSLR but should now be paid for my
endorsement, by Nikon, with a D300s or D3s.
I’ve always been involved in art, even when my job title said otherwise. As
a gyroscopic technician, I was given the delicious task of disassembling
delicate aircraft components and sketching every finite detail for later
reassembly. What I gained from that experience was, cliché as it sounds,
seeing beyond each layer as it unfolds. As a result, I’m a self-employed
patent illustrator and photographer. It’s my job to see beyond what is in
front of me, to capture how things work and envision and convey that result.
*Guest posts are always welcome at the site and the arists warmly invite all photographers of any experience level to submit work to share.
You left out the part about how they’re both gorgeous, fascinating, delightful, and awesome. Oh well. A slight oversight…
That and people who comment are good-looking, engaging, witty and wicked awesome!! — Allison
