The Women of New France

This essay that I wrote for a History class transformed me as a scholar because it made me look at writing essays in whole other way. Thus far I had really only written essays for English and to me those are a bit more factual. This History essay let me have my own writing style. There wasn’t a specific structure that I had to follow therefor it was quite free however it was still an argumentative essay. This essay also transformed the way I looked at scholarly sources. It was the first time I had to look through more than eight sources for one paper which definatley challenged me. I became excellent at picking out the best quotes to use for my arguments. Because there were so many sources I had to go through I realized that I could only pick the best of the best therefor I narrowed it down to subtopics. For example, I took the marriage facts from one book then I took the general life quotes from another. This easily allowed me to use all of the sources without repeating what I was saying. With all these things I did for this essay, I revcieved eighty percent and I know that isn’t an A+, but for me that is the best that I have ever done on a paper and something that I thought would have been impossible last year.
