Accept with grace what help is given
Swallow your pride and let yourself be driven

Reaching for the sun,
Stretching higher and higher;
The greatest funeral pyre
Turns, and burns the earth below
Baking, flaking the once-rich soil,
Sucking it beyond the boil,
Searing, tearing, ripping asunder,
Moaning, groaning with voice like thunder,
Cracks, fissures and bottomless pits
Open gaping maws to swallow bites –
Our drying earth,
Our dying earth.
