About
it was back in the nineties that i first started using “zill-e-ilahi” as a pseudonym. literally, the shadow of god, it was the appropriate mode of address for an emperor – much like the english “your majesty” – and since modesty has never been one of my vices, i took it upon myself to carry forward this royal tradition. i also feel some responsibility for the decline and eventual fall of the mughal empire as i am a direct descendant of a series of royal advisers and viziers who served the richest empire in documented history – until its fall in 1857 – after which they bailed out and changed their names. the first mughal emperor, zaheeruddin babar, commissioned a biography while still in power which is apparently still in the market under the name of tuzk-e-babari (i am not sure what the ISBN is, perhaps you should contact amazon). his more illustrious grandson, jalaluddin mohammad akbar, who is known, among other things, for murdering his son’s girlfriend and having over 300 wives, commissioned a slightly more popular biography called the akbarnama whose paperback edition made it to the new york times bestseller list for 8 consecutive weeks in the summer of 1602.
i, unfortunately, do not have the liberty of appointing a biographer. the years (and the british) have left me with little or nothing of my royal inheritance except for my title of xill-e-ilahi, which, to be honest, is considered too feudalistic by the young turks of today who frown on such “backward practices”. nonetheless, i persevere; writing my own autobiography and calling myself by my rightful title until the day that i recover my lands and claim the throne of the empire.
or, at least, until i get a ferrari.
after that i will hire an assistant who can take shorthand and do the documenting himself. until then, you can read this blog. enjoy.

Tell me about the problems you faced while commenting. I need to rectify the cyber glitch.
I am not writing a comment rather asking you guys a favor. I am assocaited to Department of Psychology, University of Karachi. We are currently conducting a research that will help understand attitudes and shift in attitudes in different situations. A website, http:/www.psychomancy.org, has been launched.
Will you people fetch few moments to visit and register (fill in the questionnaire) your responses? Questionnaire takes 20 minutes on avarage however; individual personality characteristics may make a difference.
I appreciate if you report bugs and technical faults on the website.
Much thanks.

Stumbled upon your blog a week ago and decided to come back. Not for the articles you write, but for how you write them, really amazing stuff you’re doing here, i like how you put information into the articles which makes it much more easier to read and much more interesting of course. Keep up the good work!
You have a ‘bear with you’? O_O Oh well, to each his own. 😀 😛
“bear with me…..coz no one else would stick around.” 😀 😀 😀

Yep!! Agree with Anie. 🙂
Yep, it is a good blog and interesting topics too. Keep writing.
Great blog =) !
I kind of like what little I read of you.
@ anie and sk: i’m trying to. lets see how it pans out 🙂
@ reema, gaia and the war goddess: thank you.
great writing skills Abbas bhai, your flow is amazing. the only uncool thing about you is that you are auditor 🙂 , otherwise I am totally your fan, love the parts about sheikh rasheed, you should definitely bring him into your novel (nothing wrong with little cheap pleasures)
just curious, what is your blog readership? in thousands?
thank you khawar 🙂
i know for sure that there are three people who read my blog. maybe 2 more whom i don’t know about. so its probably 7 at the most.
3+2 makes seven? Aceness 😉 You really were serious about knocking down stereotypes weren’t you? :haha:
is it working? 🙂
😛 stop being modest! you know how many visit your blog!!.. there are enough to start a samander-e-bemaina fan club on facebook!
@ mahwash: and yet i get fewer hits a day than an eskimo gets visitors.. 🙂
Live from Trenton, NJ 35 minutes ago–The live traffic feed is freaking me out: but that does not surprise me as I can still not figure out how the television displays images transmitted live via a dish on my roof.
That being said Xill-e-Ilahi, emperor of your own world: I am your manic reader.
Oh and I want to let you know that I sparkle over here: https://tiny.cc/Sparkles if you want to participate in a circus riot. (just kidding about the riot) maybe.
@ laura: honestly, i haven’t really figured out the live feed myself. thanks for the flattery 🙂
