Animal Genetic Resources

This report is the first large-scale quantitative analysis of patenting activity related to livestock animals, covering biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, immunology, gene therapy, stem cells, and transgenic animals. Its main focus is to address the challenges in identifying patent activity for animal genetic resources in general, and specifically for animal genetic resources used in food and agriculture. The report also explores the use of traditional knowledge (TK) and the mention of the source of origin of genetic resources in patent documents.
