Projects for supporting IP capacity building
As a key tool for development, the Academy has close links with the Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP), and has completed a number of CDIP projects, aimed at further supporting IP capacity building. The Academy also runs other projects in the framework of the Build Back Fund to help member states with their post pandemic economic recovery.

WIPO Academy community stories
“My advice is to pursue a crosscutting discipline such as intellectual property and business, as it allows you to learn about different topics at the same time and it increases your employability in different fields in the future.”
— Agnes May Bonafe, WIPO Academy Alumna“If you have a good idea, don’t give up on it. Start now, write it down and make a plan. People will encourage and discourage you, so you just need to be self-motivated at the end of the day. With access to a computer and internet you can achieve anything.”
— Tamari Tateshvili, WIPO IP Youth Ambassador (Georgia)“I strongly believe that WIPO-Tongji University Master’s in IP is a great opportunity to learn and explore new regimes of IP and technology commercialization at the international level. As a result of this program, I have not only built a very strong network with individuals from different parts of the world, but also developed a strong professional profile in the areas of IP, innovation and technology transfer.”
— Mohsin Ali, WIPO Academy Alumnus“I am sharing the good word of IP, because by sharing the knowledge, it prevents me from forgetting it.”
— Priscilla Kolibea Mante, WIPO Academy Alumna“IP should be considered a key pillar of the school curriculum. Classes that explain the importance and value of IP in schools are the only way to cultivate real interest in the subject among young people so they can get the most out of it.”
— Santiago Mena López, WIPO IP Youth Ambassador (Peru)“Start practicing law as early as possible. Studies are one thing, and practical experience is something else. This way you can quickly find out whether your idea of the job actually matches reality. Don’t get discouraged with failure either. With enough perseverance and efforts, you will make it in the end.”
— Piotr Luczak, WIPO Academy Alumnus“I want to learn more about IP in school too, as it is very useful to anyone who is creative and innovative… to anyone with a good idea really.”
— Neeam Al Harrasi, WIPO IP Youth Ambassador (Oman)“Nothing beats access to the WIPO Academy’s network, it really can open doors and create opportunities for you.”
— Faridah Saliu-Bello, WIPO Academy alumna
