Abstract
This specification extends the font mechanisms in CSS1 to define a new 'at-rule', @font-face which permits improved client-side matching of fonts, enables font synthesis and progressive rendering, and enables fonts to be downloaded over the Web. This provides greater typographic richness for HTML pages and improves the internationalisation of the Web.
