maturity
The term “maturity” is used in several areas of law, with its meaning depending on context.
For persons, maturity generally refers to the age at which an individual is legally recognized as an adult. In the United States, this is typically 18. The term may also be applied to “psychological maturity,” meaning the mental and emotional development of a person relative to their age.
For financial instruments, a maturity date is the date on which payment becomes due on a promissory note, bond, or other debt obligation.
