ISTC
The International Standard Text Code (ISTC) was published as an international standard (ISO 21047) in February 2009 as a numbering system supporting the unique identification of textual works. The different manifestations of a work (e.g. paperback book, filmscript, e-book) could be associated with the original textual work through the ISTC.
In association with the International ISTC Agency, EDItEUR developed and maintained an ONIX format for ISTC registration.
However, the ISTC has attracted little publisher, rights agency or retailer support. The International Agency is no longer in operation, and ISO has withdrawn the standard.
