Understanding the subscriptions and donations
The Supporters' Club is a group of organisations, ranging from the very small to the large multinational, that actively support teaching or research in the department. For many members, the opportunity to take part in student recruitment is a key benefit of membership.
Club members pay a modest subscription and in return, enjoy opportunities to interact with our students and research staff and with other members. (See details here.) We use the income for a range of purposes including supporting students who are facing hardship, offering additional skills training to early-stage researchers, supporting our growing outreach programme and bridge-funding new research ideas.
Many more successful or established organisations are also able to make a donation in addition to the basic subscription. Some have compared the likely annual costs of recruiting Oxbridge students through agencies and other methods, and have felt that a larger contribution was appropriate here. Others have simply been able to donate as part of their corporate social responsibility budget. Whatever the reasons, these gifts are particularly valuable to us and are greatly appreciated. Please email the Supporters' Club Organiser in the first instance, if you considering making a donation.
