OS Compatibility

Apple silicon Compatibility

The current shipping versions of our products run natively on Macs powered by both Intel and M1 (and newer) processors:

• BBEdit (latest: 15.5.3)
• Yojimbo (latest: 4.6.3)

We recommend that you use the latest available versions of BBEdit and Yojimbo.

All current versions of our products are 64-bit native and compatible with the requirements of macOS 10.15 and later.

Our software products are available only for macOS. There are no Windows or Linux versions.

macOS Tahoe (26.x)

At this time, compatibility testing is underway with macOS 26.

The following versions of our products are supported for use with macOS 26 “Tahoe”:

• BBEdit 15.5.3 (and later)
• Yojimbo 4.6.3
• BBEdit versions prior to 14.6 will not run on macOS Tahoe.

If you are using an older version of BBEdit, please update or upgrade as necessary.

macOS Sequoia (15.x)

Due to bugs and regressions in the initial macOS Sequoia releases, we recommend that you use only macOS 15.5 or later. If you are currently using an older Sequoia release (15.x) we recommend that you update to 15.5 or later at the earliest opportunity.

The following versions of our products are supported for use with macOS 15 “Sequoia”:

• BBEdit 15.5.3 (and later)
• Yojimbo 4.6.3
• BBEdit versions prior to 14.6 will not run on macOS Sequoia.

If you are using an older version of BBEdit, please update or upgrade as necessary.

macOS Sonoma (14.x)

Due to bugs and regressions in the initial macOS Sonoma releases, we recommend that you use only macOS 14.3 or later. If you are currently using an older Sonoma release (14.0 – 14.2.1) we recommend that you update to 14.3 or later at the earliest opportunity.

The following versions of our products are supported for use with macOS 14 “Sonoma” (with the above caveat in mind):

• BBEdit 15.5.3 (and later)
• Yojimbo 4.6.3
• BBEdit versions prior to 14.6 will not run on macOS Sonoma.

If you are using an older version of BBEdit, please update or upgrade as necessary.

macOS Ventura (13.x)

The following versions of our products are recommended for use with macOS 13 “Ventura”:

• BBEdit 15.5.3 (and later)
• Yojimbo 4.6.3

The following versions of our products are recommended for use with macOS 12 “Monterey”:

• BBEdit 15.5.3 (and later)
• Yojimbo 4.6.3

Note: BBEdit 14.1 requires macOS 10.14.2 or later.
