I would like to request that Site Kit includes a “quick link” to compare last year’s traffic in a given month vs. current year’s month.

I know I can go into my Google Analytics to see the comparison, but what got me looking into this was seeing my traffic was down almost 400% compared to last month. In my line of business (a property photographer), it is common for my business to get slower this time of the holiday year.

Since the beginning of this year, I made significant SEO changes mostly using ChatGPT to actively rewrite the wording on every page within my website. Having discovered that Google prefers active writing over passive writing, this made a significant change for me by nearly 1000%.

When I compared November 2023 traffic to November 2024 traffic, I had 248 visitors compared to 807 visitors respectively.

So an option in Site Kit to quickly see Month 2023 traffic compared to Month 2024 traffic would be very helpful.

    Cheers!

    Frank

Thanks for reaching out with the suggestion @frankbiganski. Indeed that is a good use case for such an easy to read comparison.

When using the Site Kit widget on the WordPress dashboard, if you hover over any date points on the chart, it will show a comparison of the previous reporting period. See screenshot below:

In relation to displaying something similar on the all traffic widget on the main Site Kit dashboard, I went ahead and created a GitHub issue (https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/9854) so that the team can review this. While I can’t say that this will be included in future releases, it will be reviewed. Many thanks for the suggestion. Note also that, as you’re already aware Google Analytics directly does show such a comparison, but there is a ”Source: Analytics” link that can act as a shortcut to the connected property over at analytics.google.com.

Feel free to subscribe to that issue, or chime in with any additional information. Thank you!

Just replying so I can uncheck “Notify me of follow-up replies via email”. It’s not allowing me to uncheck and save without submitting a reply. Guess that’s the norm.

Not a problem @frankbiganski, and indeed it may very well be the norm!
