    Hi,

I just updated a site to 6.4.2 and activated Sucuri Free for a core integrity check. Sucuri tells me that there’s one json file and a couple of css files in wp-includes that are supposedly non-core WP files. These files, Sucuri tells me, can’t be deleted via Sucuri because they allegedly had been put there by a user with more rights, and that I should delete them using FTP.

Now, using SFTP to check for these files I cannot see them anywhere in wp-includes, they simply aren’t there. I’ve deleted and reinstallted Sucuri and tried again, same result. Still the warning, still the files aren’t there.

These are the file names in question:

    wp-includes/blocksblock.json
    wp-includes/blockseditor-rtl.css
    wp-includes/blockseditor-rtl.min.css
    wp-includes/blockseditor.css
    wp-includes/blockseditor.min.css

Any idea what could be going on here?

    Thanks

    Hello,

From time to time (not very frequently) there are files that are invisible even with FTP clients like Filezilla due to permissions/ownership issues. It’s not common at all but I have seen it a few times.

I would recommend that you check to see if the files are present from your hosting account file manager, or if your hosting provider can check to see what is present in those files.

.json and .css do not typically contain malware, though, so it’s not likely a cause for concern, but certainly worth investigating further.

    Thank You
