WordPress.com has partnered with Google to integrate Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) into your site. In this guide, you will learn how to add Google Workspace to your domain.
Google Workspace is a suite of business tools that includes Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, and video meetings all under your domain. WordPress.com offers the Google Workspace Business Starter plan, which provides:
- Custom business email using your domain name.
- Gemini AI integration.
- Google Vids AI-powered video creator and editor.
- 30 GB of cloud storage.
- Video meetings for up to 100 participants.
- Access to Google Docs, Calendar, and other Google apps.
When you purchase Google Workspace through WordPress.com, we automatically configure your domain settings, so you don’t need to set up DNS records manually.
If you already have a Google Workspace account, you can add email with your existing account instead. You’ll continue managing your subscription directly with Google. If you’re not sure where your Google Workspace subscription is managed, learn how to identify and contact your reseller or contact Google Workspace support.
If you currently use email forwarding with your domain, it will stop working when you add Google Workspace. Email forwarding and full email services like Google Workspace cannot work together. Instead, you can set up forwarding within your Gmail settings as part of Google Workspace.
You can add Google Workspace to any domain on WordPress.com (both registered and connected domains) as long as it is using WordPress.com name servers. The instructions below will walk you through purchasing and setting up your Google Workspace subscription.
To purchase a Google Workspace subscription, follow these steps:
- Visit your site’s dashboard.
- Navigate to Upgrades → Emails (or Hosting → Emails if using WP Admin).
- At the top of the page, choose between a monthly or annual subscription.
- Scroll down to the Google Workspace option and click the “Select” button.
- Enter the following details:
- The name of the account owner.
- The name of the email address you wish to create (the part before the @ symbol).
- A password for your Google Workspace account (minimum 12 characters).
- If you want to create multiple email addresses, click the “Add another mailbox” button and fill in the same details for the new account. Note that pricing is per mailbox. (You can also add more mailboxes later.)
- Click the “Purchase” button and complete the checkout process.

If you see the error message “Google Workspace has been removed from your cart, as you have an active subscription for that domain with another provider,” follow these steps:
- If you are sure you’ve never had a Google Workspace account for this domain, the previous owner might have. In that case, submit Google’s recovery form.
- Check if you or anyone else on your site or associated with your domain has previously purchased a Google Workspace account, including free trials.
- If you have had a Google Workspace account or a free trial before, contact Google support.
After you have successfully purchased your Google Workspace subscription, follow these steps to complete the setup:
- Return to Upgrades → Domains in your site’s dashboard.
- Click the “Finish Setup” button next to the message “Finish the setup of
name@yourgroovydomain.com
to activate it.”- Alternatively, you’ll receive an email to the email address on file for your WordPress.com account with instructions on how to log in and accept the Google terms of service.
- Select whether you know your Google Workspace password (the one you set up when you purchased the subscription). If you need one generated, the next window will provide a temporary password that you can use.
- Accept the Google terms of service and change your password to begin using your new Google Workspace account.
Use the Google Admin Console to configure Google Workspace services like Calendar, Chat, and Meet. To access the Google Admin Console, follow these steps:
- Navigate to admin.google.com.
- Log in using your Google Workspace administrator email address and password.
Visit Google Workspace’s guides for specific instructions on setting up each service.
