In recognition of the International Day Of Persons With Disabilities, members of Essex County Council and the Essex County Accessibility Advisory Committee (ECAAC) played a wheelchair basketball game against the students and teacher of Western Secondary School. Prior to the game, ECAAC members were given a tour of the school’s diverse programs and were treated to an excellent lunch prepared by culinary arts students.
On December 7, in accordance with the Essex County Accessibility Plan, the Essex County Accessibility Advisory Committee (ECAAC) provided its annual report to County Council on the status of initiatives that were identified in the Accessibility Plan, as well as an update on the Committee’s activities for the current year.

The United Nations has declared December 3rd, 2011 to be International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This year’s theme is “Together for a better world for all: Including persons with disabilities in development”. Communities around the world are being encouraged to promote the need for inclusion for persons with disabilities through various activities.
