Vyria Paselk-Director of Internet Leadership at the Internet Society and Kathleen Moriarty-Kathleen Moriarty, Security Area Director at the IETFWomen represent 51% of the global population, yet the statistics for women in technology are not even close to equal (some reports estimate only 26% of the computing workforce are women). During my time at the Internet Society, I’m never surprised at the amazing things our volunteers do. No matter if they’re part of a Chapter or working on projects on their own the opportunities they've created for their cities, towns, or even countries are fantastic.I’ve seen solar powered internet kiosks installed in rural Kenya, computer courses for children in Cambodia, and an online school for farmers in Sri Lanka to help them learn how to harvest crops for years to come. All of these projects have received funding from the Internet Society. It's an honour to help our Chapters and...Date published 26 January 2016

By David ChristopherExciting news! Our organization, OpenMedia, has just launched Canada’s Privacy Plan - a pro-privacy action plan, based on feedback from tens of thousands of everyday Canadians whose ideas shaped it from start to finish. This ambitious project was made possible, in part, through a donation from the Internet Society’s Community Grants Programme - and our small team here at OpenMedia couldn’t be more grateful. We formally launched the plan at a packed event here in Vancouver - you can check out the photos from our launch party Tumblr here, and read the full version of...Date published 28 July 2015
