FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why switch to CREDO Mobile?
If you’re a progressive, it’s as simple as this: While AT&T and Verizon Wireless fund radical right politicians, we fight them. We fight them through our network of more than 3 million activists at CREDO Action. And we fight them by donating millions of dollars to progressive nonprofits like Planned Parenthood, Rainforest Action Network, Human Rights Watch and the ACLU. In fact, we’ve raised over $80 million for groups like these since 1985. Want to learn more about our activism and history? Please read our mission.
What does “no contract for 30 days” mean?
New members on a two-year service contract get 30 days to explore their new service with CREDO Mobile before the early termination fee goes into effect. All service charges and late/damaged equipment fees will apply during the first 30 days.
How does the contract buyout credit work?
We’ll help cover the costs of any early termination fee you pay your current phone company with a credit to your CREDO account of up to $350 per line switched to CREDO, for up to five lines. After you join, we’ll send you a contract buyout form. You’ll need to pay the early termination fee at your old phone company. Then simply send our form back with proof of your early termination fee and we’ll credit your CREDO account.
How’s your coverage?
Under CREDO's arrangement with Sprint, CREDO members have access to service anywhere on the Nationwide Sprint Network, reaching more than 280 million people.† Be sure to check our coverage maps for the latest coverage information.
†Although Sprint provides CREDO members access to its wireless network and to its wireless services, CREDO is responsible to CREDO members for the services. Please call CREDO with any questions or comments about services. Sprint is a trademark of Sprint.
Can I keep my current phone number? When will it switch to my new phone?
Yes. Simply provide us with a few details about your current service during checkout, right before you confirm your order. When you get your new phone, activate it online—it's easy! We'll then transfer your number and cancel your current service. (Don't cancel your service yourself or you'll lose your phone number!)
For more information, see our support page on transferring your phone number to CREDO Mobile.
What is your exchange policy?
You can exchange your CREDO Mobile device for another device within 30 days of your order date. You’ll be charged a $36 restocking fee for each device you exchange. If the new CREDO device has a higher value, you'll be charged the cost of the new device. If you’re a new customer on a two-year service contract, an exchange doesn’t extend your 30-day no-contract period.
How much are your plans? What’s included?
CREDO offers Shared Data Plans. Under these plans, all devices on an account share a single pool of data. Each device also gets unlimited talk and text, plus a personal Wi-Fi hotspot (for hotspot-capable devices). Additional monthly access fees apply per line. See plan details for costs.

INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE
- CREDO uses your e-mail address and/or site/app registration information to offer you special benefits and communicate with you in the future. CREDO may also share this information in order to provide you with service. Over time we will want to communicate with you via e-mail to inform you about new features and content on our sites, to request your vote on donations distribution (if eligible), and to make you aware of our special bonus offers and other services. You can opt out of receiving communications from us by following the opt-out instructions in our e-mails. In addition, you can opt out of receiving communications from CREDO Action by logging into our Subscription Management page. A password is required to log in on that page; if you do not have a password, just click the link under the Login button to have a password message sent to your email address.
- CREDO uses your social security number for credit and account verification purposes only.
- CREDO tracks, on a non-opt-out basis, information on which site pages are being visited and how they are being used.
- "Cookies" are bits of information that are stored by your browser on your hard drive. This technology allows you to save your password so you don't have to re-enter it each time you visit our site, and remembers you when you take action on our site. CREDO uses "cookies" to identify return visitors and to control the serving of ads to you while you are online. You can turn off the “cookie” function through most standard browsers. The app similarly collects bits of information to store on your device’s persistent storage so that the app can remember you.
- CREDO may place small pieces of computer code on our site pages and in our emails to facilitate personalized transactions.
- Additional protections apply for certain information CREDO collects and maintains about the telecommunications services you obtain from CREDO and how you use those services. This information is categorized by the federal government as Customer Proprietary Network Information or CPNI. Specific laws govern CREDO’s use and sharing of CPNI.
- To protect the security of your credit card information, we use SSL software, which encrypts provided and transmitted information.
- CREDO retains customer name, address, phone number, email address, and product type information for historical purposes. CREDO stores individually-identifiable customer billing data for three years unless longer storage is needed for tax, business, accounting, or legal purposes. CREDO does not receive or store precise handset location information or handset IP addresses in the course of providing telephone service. CREDO does not receive or store the content of customer communications sent using our services except customer communications directed to us for customer service purposes.
- Whenever CREDO handles information that you enter on its sites or on its apps, regardless of where this occurs, we take steps to ensure that your information is treated securely and in accordance with the relevant Terms of Service and this Privacy & Security Policy. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, CREDO cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or from our online products or services or on our apps, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems.
INFORMATION SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
- CREDO does not sell, trade or release your e-mail address to outside third parties unless they are named partners on a given project, the recipients of a petition or citizen action you have signed, or service partners subject to a non-disclosure agreement.
- CREDO may sell or trade mailing lists containing your name and street address.
- If CREDO enters into a merger, acquisition, sale of all or a portion of its assets, or other transfer of assets in the unlikely event of insolvency, bankruptcy or receivership, your customer information will also be transferred as one of the business assets of CREDO.
- CREDO and/or its third party providers may provide aggregate information such as the number of users who visit a particular linked site to other parties.
- When you visit a CREDO website, information on which site pages you visit and how you are using them, as well as your IP address, referring URL, type of device, browser, operating system, geolocation (including city and country), cookie information, internet service provider, and any order information may be collected and disclosed to a third party for the purpose of improving our website and services. The CREDO donations website uses a third-party service from Mixpanel to collect some of the above information. Visitors of that site can opt out of Mixpanel information collection here. Mixpanel uses cookies to store opt-out information and if you get a new computer, install a new browser, erase or otherwise alter your browser cookies, you may also clear the Mixpanel opt-out cookie. CREDO also uses third-party service providers, like AdRoll, to serve ads on other sites on our behalf, which may involve the use of third-party cookies and pixel tags. (if you want more information or wish to opt out of receiving targeted advertising from AdRoll and other third-parties, please click here). A third-party advertiser may collect anonymous information about CREDO website users’ activities—which site pages you visit, when and how you are using them, your IP address, geolocation, and products purchased.
- In the event of a judicial or governmental inquiry, CREDO will release personally-identifiable information pursuant to a valid subpoena, summons, or court order. Unless specifically prohibited by court order or statute, CREDO will notify you in writing of the request prior to releasing such information. CREDO may release name and address information to a governmental entity if it in good faith believes that an emergency involving danger of death or serious physical injury to any person requires disclosure, without delay.
