Senior UX Designer
Alexa is seeking a talented UX designer to drive the evolution of user interactions and user experience for our next generation of big data products for the web. In this role, you will lead a team of designers and work in close partnership with team members from Product Management, Data Science and Front End Development to deliver products that directly address customer needs and meet Alexa’s business objectives.
The ideal candidate will be fundamentally curious about the way things work in the real world and the digital one. As the Senior User Experience Designer, you will study our customers’ behaviors and transform them into world-class experiences that are highly functional and intuitive. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and critical thinker that works creatively through the inherent challenges of the product research and development process. They thrive as part of a cross-functional team of start up proportions but while maintaining big picture perspective that the stability of being an Amazon.com subsidiary can support.
Core responsibilities include:
- Owns and leads the design process from product thinking, to flows, to wireframes, to prototypes, to user testing, etc.
- Applies best practices from the field of user experience and user research.
- Is a core contributor to product discovery process and assists in validating product ideas and designs.
- Effectively designs interactions within the product, ranging from small feature iterations to larger, complex, greenfield experiences.
- Supports their assigned product development team on achievement of agile sprint goals, working closely with Product Managers and Scrum Masters to prepare designs for development.
- Applies an understanding of user analytics and KPIs to monitor the product’s performance and guide product evolution.
- Performs user research and customer discovery, such as interviews, observation sessions, and user tests, etc., synthesizes and shares their research to stakeholders.
- Incorporates insight from their research into product designs.
- Explores new ways of communicating product design concepts and supporting information to product stakeholders.
- Collaborates and critiques with fellow designers to ensure that the very best work possible is being released into the market.
- Manages internal and external design resources. Proactively mentor and develop other Designers.
Basic Qualifications:
- Dreams big about changing the way people interact with technology.
- Has a strong portfolio with project artifacts illustrating an individual approach to design solutions and demonstrating systematic and creative design thinking.
- Has proven experience working directly with internal or external clients to gather requirements, present work, and discuss feedback.
- Has experience successfully executing in environments that focused on conversion, renewal and subscription.
- Thinks about the full context of the user experience including business challenges, user needs, and technological capabilities.
- Proficient using tools for previsualiztion, prototyping and spec creation (eg. Sketch, Invision, Omnigraffle, Adobe Creative Suite or similar)
- Understands fundamentals of visual design.
- 5+ years of experience in UX, Interaction Design, Product Design, or related fields, designing for web and/or mobile.
- Experience managing direct reports, leading teams and design projects.
- Formal study of user experience design.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of Alexa, its products, and its target customer
Preferred Qualifications:
- Writes HTML and CSS.
- Prior experience working with Agile software development process.

Senior Product Manager
Alexa, an Amazon.com company, is building the next generation of analytics services. We are looking for an outstanding Senior Product Manager who can stand in the nexus of business, digital marketing, and user experience to help drive the evolution of our service.

We’re looking for someone who has an honest, empathetic view of the customer in conjunction with great domain expertise in the evolving tools and techniques of digital marketing. As the Senior Product Manager, you will define and deliver features that enable our customers to succeed on the web. You will apply domain experience to identify valuable insights derived from our data and analytics and determine the right means to serve them to our customers. Your valuation of these opportunities for the customer and for the business will play a significant role in refining the planning and prioritization of product development efforts.
The right candidate will have entrepreneurial zeal for the opportunities enabled by big data and cloud services. They will be the voice of the customer; equally comfortable talking tech with data scientists and front/middleware engineers, user experience with designers, copy and positioning with product marketers and strategy with executive leadership. The candidate should be comfortable and effective working in a startup environment while maintaining big picture perspective that the stability as a subsidiary of Amazon.com can support.
Core responsibilities include:
- Work with the product team to evolve high-level strategic vision into actionable tactics that provide Alexa users with a delightful, seamless, personalized experience.
- Execute comfortably in an Agile environment; serve as the product owner in grooming sprints, writing stories and prioritizing features.
- Drive design and implementation on a continuous integration basis.
- Test, measure and report results. Know how to learn while building for continuous product improvement. Know how to make the call when all the data isn’t there.
- Understand relevant digital media trends and their influence on user behaviors.
- Perform regular competitive analysis. Know where their competency and potential begins and ends.
- Be the subject matter expert for Alexa tools and features.
Basic Qualifications:
- Track record delivering best in class product and managing the entire product lifecycle.
- Proven project management skills, use of supporting tools and best practices.
- Passionate self-starter, decisive and applies teamwork to move with speed to implement ideas.
- University degree required ideally in a technical or analytical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in product management with increasing responsibility, including experience in web / software product management.
- Experience with the latest tools and techniques in search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), content marketing, influencer marketing, content automation, campaign marketing, and e-commerce marketing, social media marketing, e-mail direct marketing or display advertising.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, tradeoffs and opportunistic new ideas with technical and non-technical employees.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of Alexa, its products, and its target customer
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous professional experience in a marketing role
- MBA
- Certified Agile training.
- Clear and concise documentation skills.
- Comfortable presenting in front of executive audiences.
- Membership in relevant professional societies; regular attendee of relevant professional seminars and conferences.
