What is M-Lab?
A short introduction
Mission Statement
Open Internet Measurement
M-Lab provides the largest collection of open Internet performance data on the planet. As a consortium of research, industry, and public interest partners, M-Lab is dedicated to providing an ecosystem for the open, verifiable measurement of global network performance. Real science requires verifiable processes, and M-Lab welcomes scientific collaboration and scrutiny. This is why all of the data collected by M-Lab's global measurement platform is made openly available , and all of the measurement tools hosted by M-Lab are open source . Anyone with the time and skill can review and improve the underlying methodologies and assumptions on which M-Lab's platform, tools, and data rely. Transparency and review are key to good science, and good science is key to good measurement.

New Opportunities for Test Deployment and Continued Analysis of Interconnection Performance
In late April, Internet2, with contributions from M-Lab developers, released an updated version of the Network Diagnostic Tool (NDT), M-Lab’s most widely deployed performance measurement test. A number of third parties have already begun to take advantage of the new opportunities provided by this update, from regulators to service providers. Each is building and using their own measurement clients for their own purposes, all while contributing data to M-Lab.

Data Duplication Bug in M-Lab BigQuery Data
The team working on archiving M-Lab data recently discovered that the M-Lab data hosted in BigQuery was affected by a bug that caused duplicates to appear in our dataset. Queries against M-Lab’s BigQuery dataset performed between May 2014 and April 2015 were impacted. The raw files in our Google Cloud Storage bucket were not.
