Advertising Sales Executive

The Advertising Sales Manager will be a dynamic, top sales producer who will prospect, qualify and convert leads to opportunities to help us maintain and invigorate MAKE Magazine.

This position requires an innovative advertising sales star that is comfortable developing and selling integrated, custom, multi-platform programs with a focus on Online and Digital platforms. This position reports to the Publisher and is located in New York City to cover East Coast territory.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Contribute to the continued growth of MAKE Magazine by creating and selling an integrated set of advertising and sponsorship opportunities, from print and online ads to sponsored RSS feeds, podcasts, and events
• Meet or exceed sales goals
• Seek, shape, pitch and close deals pertaining to MAKE
• Work with MAKE's team to leverage your experience to develop, refine, and execute on new advertising products
• Develop large, creative strategic advertising proposals for target accounts
• Build and maintain effective and productive relationships with customers and prospects
• Develop and communicate sales strategy and articulate clearly established objectives
• Tracking of client and prospect contacts through sales contact management software (Salesforce.com)
• Answer and respond to inbound RFP's

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of digital media and online advertising experience
• Established relationships with high profile accounts, major brands, and agencies
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication; strong command of grammar, spelling and style
• Excellent organizational skills
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, Internet searches, and email applications
• Ability to win business while cultivating and maintaining account relationships
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and shift priorities as necessary
• Ability to work within tight deadlines

Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Four-year college degree in Business, Marketing, or Management, or related area of study, or a combination of relevant education and experience
• 3+ years experience in mid-level sales role
• 2+ years experience in online/digital sales programs

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS with or without accommodation:

• Ability to sit and use a computer keyboard for up to 3 hours at a time
• Ability to talk on the telephone frequently and for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds a distance of 20 yards at a time
• Ability to travel up to 20% per year
• Ability to speak, read, and write in English
