Professor Muthukrishnan is a pioneer of Computer Science in India and is one of the doyens of Computer Science education in India, who laid the foundation of India’s Information Technology revolution. He has contributed to the field of Computer Technology, Software Engineering and Information Technology for nearly four decades, starting his teaching and research career at IIT Kanpur in 1971. He joined IIT Madras in 1973 and was Chairman of the Computer Science and Engineering from 1977 to 1981. He was a visiting Professor at Wichita State University in 1982 and visiting Research Scientist at Carnegie Mellon University in 1982-83. He was Dean of Academic Courses at IIT Madras from 1992 to 1995 and the Deputy Director and Director-in-charge from 1996 to 2001. He was a Visiting Professor at the University of California, San Diego in 1999. Professor Muthukrishnan has published over 35 research papers in leading conferences and journals.
