DIY Touch Sensor
Instructable posted by
giladlotan
This is a short instructable on how to use the Qprox IC (QT113G) as a
touch sensor. Using this IC, you can essentially turn any object into a
touch switch. This simple circuit may be hooked up to a microcontroller
(in this case I used the MAKE controller board). Gather all the
necessary parts 1. ... read more »Create own Membrane Matrix Keypad (and hooking it up to the Arduino)
Instructable posted by
Jorad
So you want to create your own membrane keypad? Why? well making your
own keypad can be useful for many reasons. It's cheap and easy to do, it
can be placed in situations where it may be vandalized or stolen without
much frustration, It can be fully customized to display whatever you
like, and you c... read more »Chuck TV Intersect Cube DIY working model
Instructable posted by
e024576
Background: In the TV show “Chuck” (NBC
Monday 8 PM EST) the hero, Chuck down loads all the governments’
top secrets as a series of encoded images from the Intersect computer.
In season 2 (2009) we got to see the Intersect - a white
translucent cube spinning inside a long vertical cyli... read more »
How to Make a Ridiculously Cheap Analog Pressure Sensor
Instructable posted by
hiskeyd
Tired of paying exorbitant amounts for a simple analog pressure
sensor? Well here is an easy smeasy way to make an incredibly
cheap analog pressure sensor. This pressure sensor won’t be
terribly accurate in terms of measuring precise weight or things of this
nature, though it can be calibrated som... read more »Make an acoustic rain gauge (disdrometer)
Instructable posted by
nusnel
For a project at Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands) we are
building cheap, durable acoustic rain gauges, known as disdrometers.
These devices "listen" to the rain and calculate the rain rate
from the acoustic signal. But you can also listen to the signal: that
way, you can hear the rai... read more »
Stickytape Sensors
Instructable posted by
Plusea
Simple Pressure and Bend Sensors made from stickytape, Velostat,
conductive thread and small pieces of conductive fabric.
Basically you just have to get the conductive surface and Velostat
ratio right. I find the following methods work best. As little
conductive thread as necessary to cover the se... read more »Sponge Sensor for Scratch
Instructable posted by
keithbraafladt
The sponge sensor works like a variable resister- electricty passes
through a wet sponge.
As the sponge is squished more or less water lets more or less
electricity pass through.
I made this to play with resistance and sound with Scratch
and a sensor board...
You need to download the Scra... read more »Motion Triggered Spy Cam
Instructable posted by

Now you can do secret surveillance with this
"caught-in-motion" spy video cam that records covert video and
audio.
See it in action and the test results!

Five-cent Tilt Sensor
Instructable posted by
ix
This is a basic tilt sensor inspired by ball-and-cage style sensors, but
2d instead of 3d. A captured nickle connects pairs of wires depending on
the sensor orientation. These are quick to build, and pretty cheap; I
came up with them for a project where I wanted to know which face of a
cube was poin... read more »The Aqua-Replenisher!
Instructable posted by
mortaldoom780
This is, fortunately, my first innovative instructable; in other words,
it's one of the few things that I've made that isn't just cool, but
useful too.
So, one of the few flaws with small aquarium tanks, as I quickly
discovered shortly after buying an 'aquascape' setup with some tropical
critters,... read more »DIY Force Sensitive Resistor (FSR)

Instructable posted by
solarmax
Here is a instructable to waterproof a LM35 for use on a tethered ROV
using a automobile 12V battery as a power source. This came out of a
need for the MATE ROV Competition. The LM35 series are precision
integrated-circuit temperature sensors, whose output voltage is linearly
proportional to the C... read more »
