DBA 3: Creating a Data Warehouse
In this course, students learn what makes up a data warehouse and gain an understanding of the dimensional model. Next, students learn how to implement the dimensional model using standard ETL processes. Then, students learn about special data warehousing situations, and finally, how to query relational data warehouses using standard SQL commands.
From beginning to end, participants will learn by doing projects using Talend Open Studio, an Eclipse based tool for implementing data warehouses. Students complete projects using Talend, developing their own complete data warehouses. The projects add to the student's portfolio and will contribute to certificate completion. Besides a browser and internet connection, all software is provided online by the O'Reilly School of Technology.
Upon completion of the course, students will earn 4 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) and a CEU letter from the University of Illinois Office of Continuing Education. This is the third course in the four-course Database Administration Certificate series.
Base lab fee is a flat $9.95/month, no matter how many courses you are in. (Java Programming courses, Python Programming courses and DBA 3 incur an additional $5.00/month lab fee due to the virtual Windows account used for Ellipse. This is per account, not per course, and it can be removed upon request when not working on these courses.)
