Important notice that we want to share with you….
We will have a scheduled outage of the Get Satisfaction site tonight.
Anyone who attempts to visit Get Satisfaction during this time will be presented with a scheduled maintenance notification page, which will point to this blog.
You can always check here or follow our Twitter account, @satisfaction to keep updated on any foreseen or unforeseen site outages.
The downtime will begin at 11 p.m. PST and might last for up to two hours. It’s another step in our big operations upgrade, which has been going on for the last month or so.
Speaking of that operations upgrade…
We will have a scheduled outage of the Get Satisfaction site on Sunday, January 3, 2010. That’s next week.
This scheduled downtime will last for up to four hours. We expect to be done well before the fourth hour ticks by, but we want to provide extra time for own testing. These two days will mark the first time our site has been down for long, and we are intently focused on making sure everything runs smoothly once we’ve started it all back up.
Why this downtime? We’re upgrading.
We’re moving to a new hosting company, Engine Yard. They host some of the biggest Rails sites (ours is a Ruby on Rails application), including companies we have a lot of respect for like Zendesk, Bleacher Report, and Pivotal Labs — we’re thrilled to be in the company of all of their customers.
In anticipation of our move, we’ve been making some changes. Over the past weeks, you may have noticed some sporadic site hiccups while using Get Satisfaction. It’s all part of our big operations upgrade, and what Engine Yard will provide us with is a way to scale our application to accommodate all the growth we continue to have. They’ll also be providing us with more stability and even better uptime performance than we’ve traditionally had (which has always been quite good).
We’ll keep you updated and will do our best to be responsive to any questions you have about our site. And, as always, we appreciate your patience while we’re working diligently behind the scenes to make the site better.
